As the Chinese New Year of 2010 is the Year of Tiger, CCTV Spring Festival Gala Night invited the popular 1980s band Little Tigers (xiaohu dui 小虎队) back to stage after about two decades, which has triggered a lot of emotional response from their old fans.

The Little Tigers (小虎隊) are Benny Chen (陳志朋, b. 1971), Tommy Alec Su (蘇有朋, b. 1973), and Nicholas Nicky Wu (吳奇隆, b. 1970) from Taiwan. As one of the most popular Chinese boy bands in the late 1980s and early 1990s, they still stand as a symbol of adolescent innocence to millions of Chinese even in the remotest villages and across the world.

Lyrics

Love (爱)

Let’s string our hearts together, like a lucky grass, a concentric circle.

Let us bundle our calls beckoning the future, when we are still young.
Don’t let loneliness take over our ages, let me plant my lucky grass in your dreams.
May the wheel of Time circle only around our concentric circle.
I call up loudly to the sky: I love you.
I speak to the wandering clouds: I love you.
I wish the sky and the clouds can hear me,
and nobody should erase our promises.
I wish to take you to see the sea, saying: I love you.
I wish to give you the brightest star, saying: I love you.
Hear the oath of the ocean, watch the consistent azure sky,
Let us love, as we are so free…
